Sara Lifeboat test, testing unilite products
A recent SARA Lifeboat test with the Wyre Forest SARA team was conducted to test our range of LED Head torches, flashlights, lanterns and remote area lighting. Again these were put through their paces in another key environment for SAR teams. Many rescue situations don’t just happen on dry land, and as such it was time to test them on water. The Wyre Forest team consists of around 40 volunteers and as such rely on donations to fund their services. As mentioned in our previous post investing in high quality kit is essential and none more so than for lifeboat teams. Unilite where invited along to demonstrate the advantages of using our products over competing items to show the durability of our products in emergency situations. SARA’s Wyre Forest station is located at Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Services (HWFRS) Kidderminster Fire Station, The combined resources of SARA and HWFRS ensures the area is better prepared for any local water rescue incidents and large scale flooding responses. The station houses three SARA inshore rescue boats, SARA 8, SARA 9, SARA 10 and 4 rescue sleds alongside two Land Search / Boat Haulage vehicles MRU 4 and MRU 6,
After getting kitted up the boats were launched on a training rescue drill on the river Severn. The aim of these drills are to ensure all SAR team members are ready 365 days a year for all weather eventualities. After launching the boats’ a member of the SAR team played a stranded victim who had fallen over the side of her boat. The three crews were using the Unilite Prosafe & HIVIS range of portable LED items including:-
PS-H10R – 1100 Lumen LED head torch
PS-H4 – 200 Lumen helmet mountable head torch
SLR-3000 – 3000 Lumen LED Site light & tripod
HV-FL9R – 900 Lumen LED USB rechargeable flashlight
PS-L2 – 300 Lumen LED Floating Lantern
