ATEX Stands for ‘Appareils destinés à être utilisés en ATmosphères EXplosibles’. This is the French title of the 94/9/EC directive, aimed at ensuring equipment used in explosive atmospheres is safe for use and will not put the user of this equipment at harm. It is from this state of protection that the ATEX-PL1 was born, ensuring the user does not come into harm within these environments. As with all of Unilites ATEX range, the PL1 offers the maximum Zone 0 protection, meaning that no environment subject to explosive atmospheres is off limits, giving this penlight the utility to be used in any setting. The features of the PL1 which give it the capability to be used in explosive atmospheres, are a safety gas release valve and a safety locking battery compartment. These two components essentially ensure that no hazardous gasses can enter the torch. A failure to do this could potentially cause an explosion, proving fatal. Therefore, these features guarantee a safeguard from any harm.

The ATEX-PL1 is essentially a penlight, which makes it the perfect tool for close up work and inspections. In order to support this role, it has a 65 Lumen White CREE LED chip, providing a simple and reliable source of light. This beam is further extended thanks to its Lens reflector, which helps to provide a smoother light. In terms of runtime, the PL1 has a fantastic 18 hours’ worth of full power light at its disposal. Not only does this save on battery costs, but it reduces the downtime spent on changing the batteries.

To ensure the PL1 retains its robust performance, it is built with equally impressive materials. The initial ABS housing has been additionally rubberised, giving it extra strength in both the torches head and body. It is this type of protection which ensures it will survive and thrive in an industrial environment. One perk that is common with most ATEX products, is the additional protection that you get from both Dust and Water. The PL1 has a rating of IP67 in this area, meaning it retains complete protection against all dust and allows it to be fully submersible underwater for 1m.

For a penlight that provides the ultimate level of protection in hazardous atmospheres, look no further than the ATEX-PL1 to guide the way. For information on where to purchase these from, please visit: https://www.uni-lite.com/where-to-buy/
